Creating an original analysis of a social problem through oral communication.
In groups of two to three, students produce a podcast episode that addresses a specific social problem related to one of the topics discussed in the class. I developed this project to support a more inclusive approach to assessing student learning to embrace diverse strengths and communication styles. In being able to capture student learning and content mastery from the different vantage of oral communication, this assignment provides a more sociologically informed approach that addresses systemic educational inequality.
